MUSiC ViDEO AWARDS AND iT'S
DiRECTOR JOWANNA LEWiS OF RADiO KSCR TED AXE, AND MANHIGH!!!

 e are going
to try not to have an edition of ROCK SHOW go by
without our co-host RITA LOUISE. The addition of her to the ROCKWIRED
family has been invaluable and her presence in front of the
mic is
really something special. Her being away for one show was way too long
and we're grateful to have her back. In the latest edition of ROCK
SHOW, we kick things off with news of the upcoming LA MUSIC
VIDEO
AWARDS which ROCKWIRED MAGAZINE will be publishing an official guide
for. We'll be interviewing the director of the LA MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS
JOWANNA LEWIS (CEO of RADIO KSCR) and spin some tunes from some of the
nominees like RAYMOND LEVIER, MILITIA VOX and B OF DAKOTA SOUTH
RECORDS. We will also be spinning some tunes and presenting exlcusive
interviews with the likes of Canadian punk/glam rocker TED AXE, the New
Mexico-based rockers MANHIGH
and the
adventurous musical stylings of RAUSCH. There is also some new music
from ROCKWIRED newcomers such as MAGNETIC NORTH, SHINOBI
NINJA, SIDE CHAIN and WE ARE BAND NERDS. Check out the playlist below:

MTV
changed
the musical landscape tremendously by making music a
visual experience and turned recording artists into superstars in some
cases. In an time when the M in MTV has become obsolete due to the
network no longer spinning music videos, there are more music videos
than ever thanks to YOUTUBE. Visuals are still the most powerful way to
sell a band no matter the genre. With the flux of music videos coming
from this or that independent recording artist, where does the artist
go to get recognition for their work if MTV's VMAs are all about
celebrity and wardrobe malfunctions and KANYE WEST outbursts? JOWANNA
LEWIS - the founder of the online radio station RADIO KSCR - is an
entrepreneur who saw a need for this need for recognition and began
hosting music video festivals involving screenings of music videos at
vintage movie theaters. In 2016, LEWIS upped her game by hosting RADIO
KSCR's MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS which celebrated the visual work of an
intimidating number of bands and artists from around the world. Just as
intimidating as the number of artists nominated were the categories
themselves which included BEST HORROR MUSIC VIDEO and MOST LIKELY TO BE
AN INDIE FILM. To check
out the winners that year click here.
A year and a half later, LEWIS has rebranded
her ceremony the LA MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS. Bands and artists are able to
enter their music video for consideration up until regular deadline of January 20, 2018
or the late deadline of January
31, 2018. The
ceremony will be taking place at UNFRIENDLY
STUDIOS
on March 24, 2018.
To promote the event, ROCKWIRED.COM will publish the official guide for
the program featuring write ups on the nominees.

TED AXE - FEMME FATAL
iNTERViEW STARTS AT: 41m 30s
Legendary
frontman TED AXE was in THE ACTION,"Ottawa's First Punk Band" and one
of Canada's first punk bands.Touring with THE STRANGLERS and THE
RAMONES in 1978 and signed to MONTRECO RECORDS,
THE ACTION garnered more press in one year than most self-respecting
punk bands get in a lifetime and TED became known as an entertaining
provocateur and powerfull vocalist. THE ACTION released one EP
containing their hit TV'S ON THE BLINK and then self-destructed. Rather
than fade to Punk rock obscurity however, TED has led his own bands
since then and has lived and performed in Montreal, Los Angeles and
Seattle forming SISTER HYDE in Seattle and signing to STEEL HEART
RECORDS in 2007 with the release of his SISTER HYDE self-titled debut.
Returning to Canada in 2009 for an ACTION reunion,TED relocated to
Toronto in 2012 and reformed SISTER HYDE releasing SEX CHANGE in 2010.
Now in 2017 with a new album produced by ROB SANZO (SUM 41, DANKO
JONES), TED will be performing select engagements in Canada and the US.

MANHIGH is
used with loving respect to PROJECT MANHIGH, the US space project that
started in 1957, and is a symbol of leaving your familiar surroundings
to search for new horizons, places you never imagined you could go.
When drummer RAY GUTIERREZ referred to the old project, it seemed to
make perfect sense. He and GABRIEL GAMBINO, the singer and guitarist,
had both recently left their former bands and found refuge in working
together and searching for progressions that made them happy.
For GABRIELLE GAMBINO, the bassist, it meant something else
entirely: learning to play an instrument. In April of 2017 she began
playing the bass guitar, and in four short months, she found herself in
a professional studio recording their first single and in September,
was on a full west coast tour, experiencing something brand new.
MANHIGH means leaving your comfort zone and hopping into your mental
balloon to ride into the stratosphere to discover just how far you can
go. Heavy, tight, straight-to-the-point three piece rock and roll.
MANHIGH brings a new, but familiar brand of desert rock, mixing
thunderous lows, punched up guitar, dancy beats and spacey vibes that
will make you nod your head.

KRASH
KARMA - GHOST iN THE MACHiNE
JACOB CADE - WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM?
RAUSCH - GREENER GRASS
At long last, RAUSCH releases
second full-length album BOOK II. Heavy-hitting contributions come from
the likes of MARK ZONDER (FATES WARNING), RYO OKUMOTO (SPOCK'S BEARD),
and second SHADOW GALLERY mainstay, guitarist BRENDY ALLMAN. Picking up
where the debut left off, it remains painfully vulnerable &
autobiographical of the band's trials & tribulations along the
way. Things are "even more deep and dark" this time, observes the
returning RICH MOUSER who (along with BUMBLEFOOT) applauds the
"QUEEN-on-steroids" diversity running throughout. Lead-off single
GREENER GRASS is adventurous and catchy; IRKED at times flirts with
jazz; THE END is a nearly 10-minute atmospheric musical tapestry
picking right up where PINK FLOYD left off; the head-splitting
SPEECHLESS shows the band clashing with Metallica-sized demons; and
joining GOOD DAY is 2nd Ivory-produced track SWANSONG which, by notable
contrast, offers a glimpse of something completely unexplored up until
now: optimism.
