ROCKWIRED.COM’S
LATEST EDiTiON OF JAZZED AND BLUE
FEATURES BLUES LEGEND TRACY NELSON THE ViVACiOUS KELLYLEE EVANS AND SCi-Fi iCON JANE BADLER ![]() (June 19, 2011) The latest
edition of Jazzed
and Blue: Profiles in Blues and Jazz will be available on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 12pm (EST) exclusively at Rockwired.com.
The
two-hour show will be hosted by Rockwired founder Brian
Lush and will
be available for both streaming and download. "Personally, I am truly
excited to be getting this show off the ground!" confesses Lush "Along
with all of the excitement is a great deal of anxiousness as well. Jazz
and Blues are nothing new to me but to build a show around these sounds
is something else."
The latest edition of Jazzed and Blue will feature music and interviews from Blues legend Tracy Nelson, the vivacious Kellylee Evans and her riveting tribute to Nina Simone and the devilishly playful sound of sci-fi icon and Jane Badler. Tracy Nelson has one of the
signature voices of her generation. That natural gift has always guided
Tracy Nelson's soul; indeed allowed her to both write and seek out the
deeper songs regardless of niche or genre. A fierce singer of truth, a
fountain of the deepest heartache, she is an ultimate communicator and
has regularly destroyed audiences across decades of performing. She is
one of the few female singers who has had hit records in both blues and
country genres, performing with everyone from Muddy Waters to Willie
Nelson to Marcia Ball and Irma Thomas, with Grammy® nominations for
both her country and blues efforts. John Swenson, writing in Rolling
Stone, asserted, "Tracy Nelson proves that the human voice is the most
expressive instrument in creation." With Victim of the Blues (Delta
Groove), her 26th album in just over five decades, she has circled
fully, back to the original music from South Side Chicago that
mesmerized her teenaged mind in the mid-1960s.ViSiT TRACY AT HER OFFiCiAL WEBSiTE WWW.TRACYNELSON.COM It
is always curious when
a performer with serviceable songwriting chops decides to break with
what they do best in order to do a cover album. Canadian chanteuse Kellylee Evans is a formidable
talent whose story was one I was a witness to from the very beginning.
In 2006 she released her self-penned debut CD Fight Or Flight and the
process of making it was truly a baptism by fire. EVANS learned the
craft of songwriting as she went and financed the entire project with a
line of credit that she hopes to pay back one day. Evans is now three
years into a career marked by exceptional live performance and critical
acclaim. For her third release, she puts the pen down and focuses her
attention on a most fascinating subject - the
High Priestess of Soul NINA SIMONE. Avoiding the trap of
note-for-note reinterpretation, Evans sets Simone's catalog on fire
with spirited rearrangements that pay homage to that oh-so
misunderstood legend while reminding listeners that Kellylee Evans is
just as genuine in voice as she is in craft.ViSiT

Jane Badler first graced
Rockwired
with her presence in 2008 with her debut album ‘The Devil
has My
Double'. In 2010 she returned with her latest release 'Tears Again' and
became Rockwired.Com's first
ever Artist of the Month. Jane Badler will
no doubt go down in television history for providing the medium with
one of its most bizarre moments - the swallowing of a whole guinea pig.
As DIANA - the leader of an alien regime that has taken over the world
with the aim of harvesting its human inhabitants for food - Badler
created one of Sci-Fi's most memorable villians in the mini-series V.
Years after the cancellation of V: The Series, Jane stayed afloat with
numerous television roles (Falcon Crest, The New Mission Impossible)
before setting her sights on marriage and life down under (she's even
got an accent now!). When I first became acquainted with Jane Badler,
it was 2008 and she had just released her debut CD The Devil has My
Double with the help of the Australian cult band SIR (fronted by Jesse
Jackson Shepherd). Two years later, Jane and SIR are back with Tears
Again - a spunky, delectable romp through that disaster area that we
call romantic relationships. BADLER's forked tongue is permanently
planted in cheek with such playful gems as Wrong People and Four
Corners. ViSiT JANE AT HER OFFiCiAL WEBSiTE WWW.JANEBADLER.COM ADVERTiSEMENT
